The Belhearst Empire is a human monarchy, ruled under King Taver Bellson. By comparison to the other major kingdoms, Belhearst is rather small. The nation’s economy is based around the Bursan Sea Lane that travels down the western coast. Although an important stop along the sea lane, Belhearst is mostly a forgotten empire. Most people from Belhearst spend their lives either as traders or farmers, as the country is not known for its soldiers.
In northern Belhearst, the border of the country lies in a hilly region in between The Great Lake and the Emerald Ocean, and due to the pinching of land between the water, a narrow isthmus is created between Belhearst and the wild hilly region to the north. Not many people reside in this area as it is common to orc raids or wondering bands of skeletons. South east of the isthmus are the Great Locks around Canal d’Ville and a light deciduos forest that creates a natural border between the 2 countries. A trail does carve through the woods but due to the nature of the forest and its key location between Canal d’Ville and Coventry, the area is populated by unruly hermits and small bands of bandits and the trail is risky. In between the forest and the isthmus lies the city of Coventry(pop.2100). It is small trade center built upon a hill with a stone wall to protect it from the frequent raids. Travelling further south the hills around Coventry roll further out into the east where most of Belhearst’s ranchers reside and work. West is the Trade coast and the trade port of Murdoch(pop.800) where the majority of the nations imports and exports are processed. The Stock River rolls out of the hills in the south and east and flows out into the ocean just north of Murdoch. Still further south is Belhearst’s bread basket where nearly all the edible grains are grown and processed. Through out this region are tiny, insignificant farming hamlets that typically have a church and an inn, and are typically just travel stops. Following the Stock river towards it’s headwaters in the south is the capitol city of Bellkeep(47,000). Once the center of human civilization the many civil wars over the years have left whats left of Bellkeep in significant disrepair. The main citadel however has never received any damage and is still maintained in its original state by order of the king. Most of the city lives in poverty while those within the citadel wall live in wealth, which for this nation is gold and food. In the hills south of Bellkeep are the headwaters for the Stock river along with a changing climate. In the southernmost reaches of the Belhearst Empire lies the wealthy city of Chester(pop.20,000) where a lot of trade between the Royal Republics of Kusin and Belhearst is accomplished. This city is filled with many exotic imports from around the Sheild Sea. In the green grassy hill-lands around Chester lives small groups of halflings which farm the land for things like tobacco and in some places wine. Although peaceful this area will on occasion be attacked by mysterious bands of skeletons.
